Gene Stallings

Gene Stallings played football for Texas A&M University under head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and was the head football coach for the school from 1965 to 1972. He was the head coach of Alabama when they won the national championship in 1992. For 14 years, Stallings was assistant coach to Tom Landry with the Dallas Cowboys. He was also the head coach for the St. Louis Cardinals for two years and the Phoenix Cardinals for two years

“He was knowledgeable about the defense, and called the defense. We would fuss every once in a while, and Coach Landry would tell us to behave. It was a good working relationship, and I'll miss him.”

“I think you could find 40 people who would pay a bunch of money for those rooms so they can walk to the stadium. ”

“If they beat Texas, then you have to say what they've accomplished is unparalleled in college football. I was with Coach [Bear] Bryant when he first got things going at Alabama, and we won a bunch of games. But given the competition today, what USC has done is incredible.”

“All I know is that we went out there in two buses and we came back in one.”
When asked if Coach Bryant's first practices at Texas A&M were as tough as reported.
